AI recruiting software

AI recruiting software, sorted by the job it does

"AI recruiting software" covers six different jobs, from finding candidates to booking their interviews. Buy for the job where your team's hours go. HireQwik does two of them, resume screening and the first-round AI interview, beside the ATS you already use.

What is AI recruiting software?

AI recruiting software uses AI to do recruiting work a person would otherwise do by hand: finding candidates, reading resumes, running first interviews, booking them, writing job posts and tracking every applicant. Most products do one or two of these jobs well. Comparing them only makes sense job by job.

The label is the problem. A sourcing tool that writes outreach emails, a chatbot that books interviews and an applicant tracking system with an AI search box are all sold as "AI recruiting software", and buying lists rank them side by side. Start from the job your team cannot keep up with, then compare the tools that do that job.

AI recruiting software vs an applicant tracking system

An applicant tracking system is the record: who applied, which stage they are in, who interviewed them, what was offered. AI recruiting software does the judgement work in between, such as reading resumes, interviewing and ranking. Most teams keep their ATS and add AI tools for the jobs it does badly.

Many ATSs now ship AI features, usually search, summaries and keyword matching. That helps a recruiter find a profile, but a keyword match cannot tell five years of relevant work from one mention in a skills list, which is why ATS scores bunch together in the middle. Screening and interviewing at volume is where a dedicated tool earns its place.

Which job to automate first

Follow the hours. The right first tool is the one that removes your team's biggest pile of manual work.

Too few people apply
Start with sourcing and better job posts. Screening tools only work on applicants you already have, HireQwik included.
Too many applications to read
Start with resume screening. It reads every application, so the strong ones are not buried on page 40 of the inbox.
Recruiters spend days on first-round calls
Add an AI interviewer. Every shortlisted candidate gets the same conversation, at a time they choose.
Interviews stall in back-and-forth
Fix scheduling first: self-booking links, calendar invites and reminders.
Candidates live in five spreadsheets
Get an ATS before anything else. Every other tool needs a clean record to work from.
Thousands apply for the same few roles
That is high-volume hiring: screening and interviews together, so recruiters only meet the shortlist.

How to evaluate AI recruiting software: questions for the demo

A demo on the vendor's sample data shows the vendor at its best. These questions show how the tool behaves on your hiring.

  1. Run it on one of our live job descriptions. Not a sample role, and with real resumes from that role.
  2. Show us why this candidate got this score. A number without the evidence behind it cannot be checked or defended.
  3. What happens to a candidate the AI rules out? Who can override it, and is automatic rejection off until we switch it on?
  4. How does it handle a rehearsed or AI-written answer? Ask to hear a follow-up question, not just the first one.
  5. What does the candidate see, and how many finish? Take the candidate's side of it yourself.
  6. How does it fit our ATS? Exactly what goes in, what comes out, and who moves it.
  7. Where is candidate data stored, and who processes it? Ask for the providers by name.
  8. Has it had an independent bias audit? If yes, ask to see it. If no, ask what you can check on your own data.

You can put the first five to HireQwik without a sales call: take the live AI interview yourself, then bring a real job description to a demo.

How AI recruiting software is priced

Most AI recruiting software is priced on volume, by the number of candidates or interviews, or per recruiter seat for ATS and sourcing tools. Few vendors publish a price. Of the twelve tools above, two do, and the rest quote after a demo.

  • By interviews or candidates. Ribbon publishes from $499 a month billed annually for 100 interviews a month. Talview prices by the number of candidates, typically from about 150 to 200, and InCruiter's volume hiring page says you pay for completed interviews.
  • By subscription. Spark Hire publishes video interviews from $249 a month billed annually.
  • Custom quotes. HireVue, Paradox, Alex, HeyMilo and most enterprise platforms price after a sales conversation. HireQwik does too.

When you compare quotes, compare the cost per candidate actually screened and interviewed, not the cost per seat. In high-volume hiring the candidate count is what grows.

The rules on AI in hiring

Using AI in hiring is legal in India and the US, but the obligations differ by place.

  • India. There is no law written specifically for AI in hiring. Candidate details are personal data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, so tell candidates how their data is used and keep a person responsible for each hiring decision.
  • United States. New York City requires an independent bias audit and advance notice to candidates before an automated tool is used to screen them, and Illinois requires employers to tell candidates when AI is used in hiring decisions. Other states are adding rules; our guide to AI hiring laws by state lists them.

What we do not claim: HireQwik has not completed an independent bias audit, and using it does not make you compliant with any law. A recruiter makes every decision, and each score keeps its evidence for a later review.

Where HireQwik fits, and where it does not

HireQwik is the screening layer for high-volume hiring: every resume read against your job description, then a voice interview with the candidates who pass, ranked Strong Go, Go, On Hold or No Go for your recruiters. It was built on hiring in India, where a single role can draw thousands of applicants.

A good fit when hundreds or thousands apply for the same roles
A good fit when first-round calls eat your recruiters' week
Not a fit if you need sourcing, an ATS, or interviews in a language other than English
Not worth it for a handful of applicants or for senior search

Questions buyers ask about AI recruiting software

Is HireQwik AI recruiting software?

Yes, for two of the six jobs. HireQwik screens every resume against your job description and runs a 10 to 20 minute AI voice interview with the candidates who pass, then ranks them for your recruiters. It does not source candidates and it is not an applicant tracking system: it works beside the ATS you already use.

How much does AI recruiting software cost?

Prices range widely because the products do different jobs. Of the tools we compared, Spark Hire publishes video interviews from $249 a month billed annually and Ribbon publishes AI interviews from $499 a month billed annually for 100 interviews a month. Most others, HireQwik included, quote after a demo, usually based on how many candidates or interviews you run.

Which recruiting work should stay with a person?

The decisions. Let software read every resume, run the first-round conversation and book the slots, then have a recruiter decide who moves forward, run the final interviews and make the offer. In HireQwik the AI recommends a tier, a recruiter decides and can override it, and auto-reject stays off unless your team turns it on for a role.

How long does AI recruiting software take to set up?

It depends on the job it does. An ATS migration can take weeks. A screening tool can start on one role once your team approves its scoring. HireQwik drafts the scoring rubric and interview questions from your job description for your team to edit, and in the HyperVerge pilot one hiring team had a ranked shortlist within 48 hours.

Does AI recruiting software work with Naukri, LinkedIn or our ATS?

Ask each vendor what goes in and what comes out. HireQwik takes candidates from wherever you collect them, including a Google Sheet, a referral form, an Excel file, a Drive folder or PDF and DOCX uploads, so applicants from Naukri, LinkedIn or your careers page can flow in through those. The ranked shortlist exports to Excel for your ATS.

Is it legal to use AI recruiting software in India?

Yes. India has no law written specifically for AI in hiring, but candidate details are personal data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, so tell candidates how their data is used and keep a person responsible for hiring decisions. If you also hire in the US, some cities and states add their own rules for automated tools.
